On Thursday, 19 September 2019, Exxaro hosted the inaugural Supplier Excellence Awards which are anticipated to be a bi-annual event.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mxolisi Mgojo, Chief Executive Officer of Exxaro said: “Relationships are important in steering our growth. Exxaro builds relationships of goodwill with our suppliers based on shared values and sound corporate governance. We hope to create and enhance an environment where our supply partners are motivated to continuously deliver discretionary value that exceeds what is contractually committed. It is our hope to achieve a sense of unity and partnership with all our suppliers in realising Exxaro’s purpose of powering better lives in Africa and beyond.”

As South Africa’s largest black-empowered resources company, Exxaro believes that its suppliers have a fundamental role to offer sustainable value to organisation beyond their contractual committed obligations in support of Exxaro’s vision and strategic objectives. The supplier’s selection criteria is aligned with Exxaro’s standards and purpose of powering better lives in Africa and beyond.

Mgojo concluded: “We believe that economic social development cannot be achieved alone, we need to form strong partnerships and collaborate with all our stakeholders in order to power better lives in Africa and beyond. Our suppliers are partners with us in achieving this.”
